The Purpose of a Day...from Sept. 2009

So...what is the purpose of a day?
A day is a period of time given to us each cycle...to greet with purpose and enthusiasum. We can choose to do great things with it, or to continue to wallow in our seemingly endless struggles, feeling down and defeated,

It's easy to look at the negative...its the path heavily trod, as we go on each day facing our personal battles. The stones have been removed(making it look like the right way to go) and the stray stickers and switches have been bent back and broken off by those passing before us. We wrongly assume this is the path to choose. So many have gone before us....so many, who may not even report back saying they've found happiness....perhaps because they havn't.

"The road less taken"...the one we all must follow in order to find ourselves....the one with rocks, gulleys, and sometimes streams we fear crossing...but on the other side, when we reach the clearing and come back out into the light, we realize we have scaled a ridge in our lives...an unapproachable goal, just to stop and realize, "hey I feel pretty good. I'm pretty proud of myself. I have looked death, doom,  disaster, and fear in the eyes, and I continued walking"

We can experience this each and every day. We can wake with an aire of urgency, realizing no one knows if this could be our last day, and then choose to not sit idly by and watch it pass, but open our arms and embrace the day's challenges and purpose,...its meaning, its call to duty so to speak.

I realize I have let many days pass in this matter. It is a lesson in complacency...in laziness actually. The urge to sit on a computer, or in front of a movie, or lie on a bed with someone who matters, and relax and let the sunny hours pass...all good things I agree, if you have a conscience clear of knowing business has been taken care of. There's almost nothing I enjoy more than a day of moping around and kicking back and just relaxing........but what needs to be done?

Each day is a gift,..one given by God or whereEVER it comes from according to your own beliefs. It is not meant to be squandered...it is meant to be used to its fullest...because tomorrow may never come. How do you choose?

The small still voice inside you speaks......you know the answers....
